Fall Year One: The Girls

Fall 01: Girls
The girls have begun classes and training in preparation for college. So far they have been very easy to teach. They sit quietly and pay attention during classes.
PhotobucketHowever as soon as they have maxed a skill for that class they waste no time heading down stairs to hang out with which ever girl they are becoming friends with at the moment..

The girls enjoy a variety of sports. Here we see them training for the winter basketball tournament against the boys. No doubt the boys are training as well but the girls are confident of victory.
Photobucket
When not in class or playing sports the girls work around the farm or fish. All food is grown or caught right here on the farm. You can see in the background that they have a neighbor now. That neighbor is the dean of colleges and the kids will meet him soon.

Occasionally a little one on one tutoring is required is help one of the girls get her grades up to passing. As you can see they are all working on a variety of skills not just fishing.
Photobucket
The girls are also learning gardening, flower arranging, music, sewing, pottery, and the importance of maintaining a clean home.

Photobucket
Of course at times the girls grow bored with learning or they just want to relax and they’ll plop down to visit with a friend. They have quickly learned that the greenhouse is the perfect place a little relaxing time to just chat.
Photobucket
The girls eat all meals together and cook those meals themselves. As you can see there was some excitement this morning. A sudden fall storm caught a tree on fire in the back yard and the girls spent the morning meal discussing the sirens that had wakened them and how unnecessary the Fire Department had been since the rain put out the fire. Personally I would have thought they would talk about the fireman since they have had no contact with anyone since moving into the house.

As you can see the girls had a very busy fall. They maxed out cooking, cleaning and earned some mechanical skills. They are all A+ students and are learning to fish, garden, sew other talents that will serve them well when they reach Harmony Cove. They have decided to put of choosing husbands until College.

Founder Introductions

The Founders
Training Begins

Hello there and Welcome. I am Hal Gibson and I will be one of your guides for a few weeks. For today I would like to introduce you to the Future Founders of the new Harmony Cove.
Photobucket
Why do I call them Future Founders you ask. Please allow me to explain. I am sure that most of you have heard about the failed attempt to colonize Harmony. We believe that this was because the founders never had the proper training or I should say they were trained in the wrong areas necessary for survival in a hostile environment.
They could certainly have babies by the score but they couldn’t build a crib. They could build hospitals but they couldn’t make the equipment needed to operated those hospitals or the items needed to maintain an inventory in the stores they attempted to operated. In short they were too dependent on Pleasantview and other communities like them for support.
When maintaining that support became to expensive and our government started demanding that Harmony pay it’s own way the people of Harmony Cove abandoned their new adventure and returned to pleasantview.
This time around we are training the founders properly. We have chosen to twelve teens. All of these kids were taken from the streets of Downtown Pleasantview, and other cities and moved to a very isolated and secret spot in the Mountains.

They are completely cut off from civilization and will be trained entirely by myself and my assistant Ms. Marion Hill.

I will be living with and training the young men while Ms. Hill will live with and train the young ladies.
Now Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the Founders of Harmony Cove.

This concludes our introductions.
We are hoping that this project will be successful and these children will learn the necessary skills for survival. Should the project fail we will attempt in again with a smaller group.
We will return each week with updates on training and Ms. And I will follow the children through college before we send them on there way.
Thank you for coming.
